Hello Out There!

 Wow! It has been a while! A long while. I seriously had forgotten how much I loved reading about my bloggy friends and what new and fun things they were doing. Oh, who am I kidding? I forgot how much I love to blog stalk. But, what I figured out I missed more...I love to BLOG. So here is a little recap. I will try and keep it short for fear of scaring everyone off that might have decided to click on over here.

It's been a while and for good reasons I do say. I fell off the wagon. Literally. This last deployment ran me down. I stopped cleaning, teaching Lily letters, trying to decorate my house. I was spent. I did however do a lot out of the house. I Co-lead the Family Readiness group throughout the deployment (which was a lot of work), I did make tons of new friends and I DID make it through another year long deployment. But, there is a lot of emotional rebuilding going on. Not that there isn't with every deployment, but this one just seems like it is taking a whole lot more work on my part.

Ha, for goodness sake, my husband wants to share my super comfy bed with me, AND wants to spend some of the money he earns, oh and might even want to help me cook dinner sometimes. OH no ....we can't have any of that. Let's just say I am having a little trouble giving up the reins, but I am working on it and things are falling into place just like they should.

Obligatory Kid Update:

Lily is now 5. Yes, I said it...SHE IS F-I-V-E....5. She is my little firecracker and I love that she gives me a run for my money. She is smart. I really love that. Hopefully she has her daddy's brains. She loves the color blue. (I don't really like that.) Her favorite ice cream is chocolate and she really likes gymnastics. Lily is now taking piano lessons and she is pretty good at that too.

Chase is 19 months old and will surely be more of a firecracker than Lily. He is strong willed and definitely pushes his boundaries. He LOVES trucks, dirt, and trains. Yes, he is a B-O-Y! His hair is still as blond as the day he was born and he has HUGE teeth. His favorite words are Mine, Dules (Jules), car, dog dog and vroom! Chase loves being outside and riding on his tricycle.

Maybe I should do an update on me and Dale too:

Dale is HOME! Ha. He has actually taken a second command and is now the HHC Company Commander. Go Dale! He participated in the Tough Mudder a few weeks ago and said that it was really hard. Google it. I wouldn't do it if someone paid me. Something about being shocked while in pools of ice water just doesn't tickle my fancy. He also bought an ugly old Jeep. 1978 CJ5 to be exact. It's ugly and will need a lot of work, but he loves it and I am glad he is handy like my Dad. Dale also made a bird feeder....Success! Ha!

As for Me: Well, with another Company Command comes another FRG, so I am the HHC FRG Co-leader. It should be really fun getting to know everyone. I am going to a Bible study with my neighbors and that has been really fun getting together with the ladies every Monday. I do a lot more cooking and baking. Since Dale has been home it is a lot more rewarding to get behind the stove and cook for someone who's favorite food doesn't consist of chicken nuggets and grapes.

~~~ R & R~~~

This is actually the second part of R&R and I will put some pictures from our trip to San Antonio once I find that SD card. Our little family had so much fun just sitting at home "playing" house that we lost track of time and those two weeks flew by.

We did the normal make your feel right at home kind of stuff. The house got trashed, we didn't clean, the kids ate junk (thanks to Daddy), lets just say we had a blast!

What makes Dale feel at home?

1. Frying Chicken.

This is one of Dale's favorite meals and he only gets it when he cooks it :). 

 Lily decided that frying was way too dangerous and she needed some protection.

2. Fixing toys and having fun.

Pa made Chase the cutest rocking airplane. Unfortunately, when it arrived in the mail it was

a little more than "damaged". Actually, the whole top was broken off. Thankfully, Pa sent gave us the replacement parts and Daddy fixed the airplane. The kids LOVE it!

3. Riding like the wind.

Daddy made sure Lily brushed up on her NEW bike without training wheels.

 ~It almost killed Daddy to buy an all pink princess bike,

but he knew she would not appreciate the blue bike that he really wanted to buy for her.

4. Gardening.

We planted lots of beautiful flowers.

5. Birthdays!

We celebrated our sweet baby turning ONE!

6. A little friendly competition.

Lily and Dale played a little soccer.

There were a couple of dates in there too just for Dale and I but, I'll be, I didn't bring a camera.

We had so much fun during R&R it was so hard to let our #1 leave again.

We are counting down the days. Dale should be home by the beginning of August! Yeah!

I have a One Year Old!

I have a One Year Old! Oh my goodness gracious!

And I even have a picture of him. Ha.

Poor second child.

I actually got lucky and the sweet lady that took our Christmas photos came out of "vacation" to take Chase's One year pictures before her due date. Ha. She was 38 weeks pregnant and did a fantastic job with a grumpy little toddler. Umph. Toddler. That word makes me sad. My sweet little baby is a toddler. I guess it is time for another one. Ha. Just joking. Dale might have a heart attack.

We are very thankful to have these pictures because Michelle went into labor at 2 a.m. that night/morning and had her second precious little boy named Elliot. Before her water broke she had time to edit a few pictures and then finished a couple days after she came home with the baby. Can we say Rock Star? Yes. Did I mention she gave birth naturally (by choice) and her husband is deployed too. Way to go Army Wife! God made us special and she is doing a mighty fine job! If I do say so myself!

I know I have been a little lackadaisical about blogging but I am working on it. I love to blog, it's a release for me...but I just have to get my act together and take the time. Maybe I will schedule it. Ha. Yeah right. I don't schedule anything.

We have a Bumble Bee!

Now that Lily is 4 she is able to play soccer. She her Daddy was very excited and "they" could not wait until Lily got to hit the field. I am not the biggest soccer fan, but I am trying really hard. Quite frankly I have NO clue about soccer but apparently it is a workout, I sure wouldn't be able to run that much.

Lily had her very first soccer game today! Score Bumblebees 0 - Turtles 1. Lily made the only goal of the game. As you can see by score it was for the other team :).

The first play of the game Lily took off running and bit it, BIG TIME.

 Yes, my kid is the most colorful. Ha, if you don't know my personality by now...

I did that on purpose. I had no trouble finding her on the field.

Lily was also named the fastest kid and the clumsiest. I am not quite sure how you

can be both of those things at once...but Lily succeeded. She falls more than any

of the other kids but can out run them all.

I am very excited for this soccer season, if for nothing else, I love having a good belly laugh!

Our Last Snow Day ~ Hopefully!

Thank you Christina for taking Lily around the neighborhood sledding so I could stay

in the warmth with the babies. Yes, I am the mean mommy

who never took the 9 month old out in the snow. Who does that?

I think he appreciates the warm heater like his momma.

Lily enjoys the snow but is ALWAYS ready to come back in.

Who could blame her? I still haven't bought her proper snow bunny attire.

Maybe next year? Or maybe not. You never know where we will be next year.

I. AM . AN. ARMY. WIFE

Recently, I have thought, I NEED to write something about my Army life. After all this blog's name is HEATHER on the HOMEFRONT, but I just couldn't find that right words. I didn't have the gumption to start it. Everytime I started writing I was complaining, and that isn't really how I live my life. So, after a couple of lines I would erase my thoughts and say, ahh to heck with it. Don't get me wrong, I complain, but I didn't want everyone on here to think ohhh Heather, she is so miserable, because I. AM. NOT. I love my Army Wife Life. I love being here at Fort Campbell and I love my husband. I hate that he is so far away, but I love what he does and quite frankly so does he. Thank goodness, because we would be in a world of hurt if he didn't.

Anyway.

Today, on Facebook I read this article and this lady took the words right out of my mouth and actually wrote my feelings on paper a lot better than I would have. So, if you can, please take some time and read. Then take a minute to be thankful for all of the service men and women today, those with families at home praying everyday for their soldier's safety, enjoying life without their husband, daddy and best friend. The women and men trucking along through their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th or even 6th deployment. Think of them today on Valentines Day.

I LOVE OUR MILITARY and all of those WIVES supporting our MEN!
